General Radiology

General Radiography – X-rays are a form of radiant energy, like light or radio waves. X-rays can penetrate the body, allowing a radiologist to produce pictures of internal structures and view them on a computer monitor or piece of film. In some cases x-rays are used to assist with the placement of tubes or other devices in the body or with other therapeutic procedures. Diagnostic exams that use x-rays include plain radiographs, mammography, computed tomography and fluoroscopy. When used with care, x-rays are safe. Radiologists and radiographers are trained to use the minimum amount of radiation necessary to obtain the needed results. No radiation remains after the x-ray exam.
